[ARCHIVED] Help us welcome youth author Anika Fajardo

Join us in-person at the Shakopee Library to meet Anika Fajardo, author of the award-winning What If a Fish, Meet Me Halfway, and the Disney tie-in novel Encanto: A Tale of Three Sisters. This author visit is free to the public, no registration required.

This event is part of Teen Lit Takeover: 60+ Events, 41 days, 8 libraries, supported by MELSA and funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Event Information & Registration

  • Recommended age group: Great for readers aged 10-18.
  • Date & Time: Tuesday November 15 from 7:00 - 8:00pm. View event in our calendar
  • Location: Shakopee Library 
  • Registration: Drop in, no registration required for the main event. (But if you want to join us for the pre-party, make sure to sign up below!)

Join us for Colombian treats and activities before the event! Anika Fajardo will also provide a free copy of her newest book, Meet Me Halfway, to the first 30 people who sign up for the pre-party. Register for the pre-party.

About the Author

Anika Fajardo was born in Colombia and raised in Minnesota. Her debut middle-grade novel What If a Fish (Simon & Schuster, 2020) was awarded the 2021 Minnesota Book Award. Her newest book for young readers is Meet Me Halfway (Simon & Schuster, 2022). Fajardo also wrote Encanto: A Tale of Three Sisters, the middle-grade tie-in novel for the Disney film Encanto. She has earned awards from the Minnesota State Arts Board, the Jerome Foundation, and the Loft Literary Center. She lives with her family in Minneapolis, where she teaches at Augsburg University’s MFA program.
