TH 169 & CH 59 Interchange

  • Construction Year: 2024
  • Community: St. Lawrence Township and Scott County
  • Corridor Served: CH 59, TH 169
  • Project Lead: Scott County

Description:

State Highway 169 is a freeway-type facility from Brooklyn Park, MN to County Highway (CH) 14 in Louisville Township. South of CH 14, State Highway 169 is characterized by many at-grade accesses, minimal or no acceleration, deceleration or dedicated turn lanes, and increasing safety and mobility concerns. As the only north-south principal arterial on the west side of Scott County, State Highway 169 provides a primary connection from communities such as Jordan, Belle Plaine, and Mankato to the greater Twin Cities metro area.

In 2003, MnDOT’s State Highway 169 Corridor Management Plan identified the need for an interchange at the intersection of TH 169 & CH 59. Also in 2003, Scott County completed the TH 169 Frontage Road and Interchange Study providing a planning-level concept for a folded diamond interchange at the intersection.

Purpose & Justification:

The purpose of this project is to design and construct an interchange at the intersection of State Highway 169 and CH 59 (Delaware Ave) that addresses corridor safety and access management on State Highway 169 while eliminating a barrier to connectivity for agricultural and industrial traffic in western Scott County. The project also provides safe access to existing and future commercial destinations and a southern connection to the City of Jordan.
