About the JAF

We, at the Scott County Juvenile Alternative Facility (JAF), are passionate in helping our youth residents gain skills to improve their life and reduce their chances of repeat offenses.
Our staff is experienced. Each staff member has at least a bachelor's degree and routinely attends training courses to keep current on ways to benefit our youth residents. We utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches - counseling, role playing, group therapy, and work assignments - to assist youth in determining their own needs and wants for improvement. The concerns relating to family and the community are incorporated.

  • Improve decision-making skills
  • Provide safe and secure housing

JAF Mission
The Scott County Juvenile Alternative Facility (JAF) uses an evidence-based approach to its treatment of clients, families and community at large. A dedicated and deliberate focus to the criminogenic and non-criminogenic needs of the individual client will be the focus of the facility and its treatment. In doing this, we will strive to meet the criminogenic and non-criminogenic needs of the clients. This will be accomplished through our groups, assignments, counseling, role playing, and through working with the youth, to help them determine their own needs and wants for improvement. Our goal is to work with a youth, and their current attitude through the cycle of change, to encourage and help them develop self-efficacy.
